Lightweight, practical, discreet and surprisingly good sounding headset
I got this headset for my iPhone about a year ago, and love the unintrusive aspect of using the headphones. They are supremely comfortable and you barely feel that they’re on.
Sound is pretty rich with clean, neutral soundstage and reasonable bass response - it is prone to distort at higher volumes though, and volume does not really go quite high enough for my liking - particularly when travelling on the Bakerloo Underground Line - where track noise can drown out volume!
The neckband design which means the band goes around the back of your head - also means your hair does not get messed up, and you can easily wear a hat if you wish. This style of design, plus the bluetooth wireless function - enables very free movement, which means you can use the headphones for jogging and other physical activities. The downside of the neckband / over-ears design is that the headphones clash with certain pairs of sunglasses - you need fairly slender arms on the sunglassess to accommodate both.
The biggest downside though is trying to use this as a headset - as the microphone position and function is not nearly good enough. The caller at the other end can barely hear you, and you always need to resort to speaking through the phone. Moreover, for the iPhone the Next and Previous track selection buttons on the headset don’t work either, although the volume buttons work well.
You get 7 hours listening pleasure via USB charging, which is another aspect which makes this such a convenient headphones solution. Sure there is room for improvement, and you don’t really get a great headset experience, but as headphones, this is the perfect solution for me. I’m just waiting for an upgraded version which tackles the various issues; I’m sure Sennheiser can sort those out for me.
